The tuba / euphonium quartet version of Riffs and Reflection was made for the low brass ensemble of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force (UK).
Each of the work's three movements draws influence guitar riff styles found in different musical genres; 1. Clean is in a pop music style, 2. Smooch with a blues feel and 3. Discipline inspired by progressive rock styles.
