This is an exploration of Caradog Roberts’ hymn tune Rachie, i bob un. It was written as part of Tom's composition association and musical directorship of the Welsh brass band champions, Bedwas Trethomas and Machen (BTM) Band.
Committed to expanding the horizons of traditional Welsh music, this new setting of a chapel favourite, embraces traditional choral elements, such as sweeping melodic lines and rich block harmony, but with a more progressive rhythmic approach.
It received its world premier on 8 March 2009 at St David’s Hall Cardiff.
